Superintendent Marotta to hold a Student Opportunity Act SEPAC Forum

Updated: Mar 29, 2020

Dr. Margaret Marotta, the superintendent of the Haverhill Public Schools, will hold a Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) forum on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, to discuss the recently passed Massachusetts Student Opportunity Act (SOA) with special education parents, guardians, and caregivers.

Superintendent Margaret Marotta

The SOA provides school districts with increased funding, especially those school districts with a higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students and English Language Learners.

To ensure that additional money from the SOA achieves the goal of improving educational opportunities for all students and addressing persistent disparities in achievement among student subgroups, school districts are required to submit to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) a three-year plan. The superintendent is seeking the public's input.

The forum starts at 6 PM in the conference room across from the main office at Haverhill High School, which is located at 137 Monument Street, Haverhill, MA 01832.
