Moody Preschool director, Kristi-Lynn Craig, will discuss kindergarten readiness at the next Haverhill Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) meeting on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at 6 PM at Haverhill High School in room K17.
Also, Moody Preschool parent and Haverhill SEPAC vice chair Colleen Pelczar will present on organizing your IEP binder.
About the Presentations and Presenters
As parents we want our children to be prepared to engage with the world around them. One step in that preparation is kindergarten. To support your child in their kindergarten readiness skills and the transition to kindergarten, parents can take several necessary steps. Ms. Craig will explore kindergarten readiness and a child’s transition to kindergarten.
Ms. Craig, the current ECC Director at the Moody Preschool on Margin Street in Haverhill, has spent the last 15 years working in special education settings where she viewed her primary role as advocating on behalf of student success, family engagement, and teacher support. Ms. Craig’s experience includes teaching in a full inclusion setting for second and third graders, teaching in a kindergarten to third grade substantially separate classroom setting, and working as a special education administrator.
Ms. Pelczar is a mother of three boys (a seven-year-old and five-year-old twins). One of her twins is on the Autism Spectrum. He was diagnosed just before his second birthday. Both of her twins were in early intervention and now attend Moody Preschool.
With early intervention, and now with IEPs, the paperwork quickly became overwhelming. Through organizational binders, Ms. Pelczar found it easier to manage the mounting paperwork. She hopes to help fellow parents get organized with her presentation.
